Pre Build
Collecting parts needed for build Oct 2004 - Jan 2005

OCTOBER 2004
First this I bought was the engine, a 2.0L Zetec 93 reg. and looks in pretty good nick. Pictures below show how far I have got with this.
I started by stripping off the bits that I did not need and then replaced them with the correct parts.

<<Zetec Update
Turns out that the engine I bought was originally an automatic. Although ok, it does mean that I need to make a few more mods to make it work.
PLUS, buy a flywheel. Which I think will be a 1.8L one, which wil be lighter than the standard 2.0L one

NOV 2004 - Cortina Calipers
Bought 2 sets of Cortina hubs from Langford scrap yard towards Shaftsbury. Really nice guys, helpful and not likely to rip you off.

<<Calipers
Once the calipers and hubs had been cleaned up one set was sold to keep the cost of the build down. The other were sent off for powder coating. |

OCT 2004 - The gearbox
In the end I decided to go for the Type 9 gearbox. Other choices that I was considering was the newer MT75 box. But will better ratios to upgrade to and a starting price of £58 the price showed me the way

Gearbox>>
This massive doughnut thing on the front of the box needed to be removed before the propshaft could be attached, with a few choice words and a lot of deep breathes off it popped. |

NOV 2004 - 4x4 back axle
Salvaged (via trade it) from a farmers field I bagged this little lot for £80. 3.62 diff, calipers, and lobro's, bargain

Scrapheap challenge
Although I was very happy with this little lot, SHMBO did not understand why a pile of very rusty parts was such a bargain :)
